India Boosts Health Tourism Overseas

India is definitely coming to promote health tourism massively. The tourism ministry recently started road shows abroad to inspire the homegrown health industry. The or medical industry in India has witnessed a yearly growth of 35 percent in the last year. Actually ministry officials confirm that a significant number of individuals are pouring in here to acquire cheaper and better medical services. Through the years, the number has drastically risen.

Official records demonstrate that more than 63,000 foreign tourists have arrived from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Denmark and also the US for surgeries and coverings in India this year. “In India, medical facilities are far cheaper and far more advanced than in many countries. It has attracted a lot of people. We just wish to take this a step further and publicize it through our road shows. Health tourism is attracting more and more people than summer vacationers throughout the world,” a senior tourism ministry official said.

Popular treatments include dental surgeries, knee transplants and neurosurgery. Plus, India can also be well-known abroad now for its plastic surgery facilities. India, since the last Three years, has faced stiff competition from Singapore & Malaysia. These countries offer high-end solutions to foreigners at very affordable rates. “We plan to reach out to more and more people through our road shows,” said the Indian official.

Typically, these shows may have presentations and one-to one business conferences between trade delegations from India and travel trade representatives within the respective countries.

“While road shows were completed in the US and Caribbean countries within the first week of this month, similar shows were held recently in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam,” said the ministry official.

Indian destinations are now being showcased in Manchester, Birmingham, Durban and Glasgow in England.
